Bullet For My Valentine at Stage AE

On Wednesday night, Bullet For My Valentine and their “British Invasion” tour landed at Stage AE on Pittsburgh’s North Shore and left the audience thoroughly rocked. Wielding musical instruments rather than muskets, all three acts treated the packed venue to an onslaught of high-energy metal.
The crowd was already in a frenzy whenever Bullet for My Valentine took the stage. Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades” blasted through the PA to the delight of fans, and as the lights went down cheers of “Bullet, Bullet, Bullet” could be heard as the band made their way to the stage in the dark before the lights came up to the hard rocking Venom favorite “No Way Out.” Starting things off with a bang, the band absolutely rocked their way through “Skin” and “Your Betrayal.” It was the fourth song before frontman Matt Tuck took a breather and spoke to the audience about going back to where it all started with a blistering performance of “4 Words (To Choke Upon).”
Drummer Michael “Moose” Thomas is sitting out this tour while waiting for the birth of his first child. But AxeWound and Pitchshifter beat-keeper Jason Bowld took to the throne and didn’t miss a beat. His killer double-kick action during “4 Words” was nothing short of phenomenal. “You Want a Battle? (Here’s a War)” had fans singing along from beginning to end. “The Last Fight” found Matt Tuck opening the song alone with his guitar, before his bandmates joined in. The set also featured Bullet hits such as “The Poison,” “Scream Aim Fire” and a killer encore which was comprised of “Tears Don’t Fall” and “Waking the Demon.” An evening filled with circle pits on the floor and kickass rockin’ metal on stage had come to an end.
